Setting up your Camera & Microphone
How to set up your camera and microphone for video and audio appointments.

Prerequisites

  • Webcam and Microphone: Ensure your device has a working webcam and microphone.
  • Internet Browser: For the best experience, use the latest version of a supported internet browser.
    • Google Chrome
    • Internet Explorer
    • Microsoft Edge
    • Safari
    • Firefox

 

 

Checking Your Video and Audio Settings on the Website App

Important: Mobile phone and tablet browsers do not support WebRTC, which is required for all appointment types. If you are using a mobile device or tablet, please download the Android or iOS app from the relevant app store.

 

For Desktop Browser Users

To participate in video and audio appointments, ensure your webcam and microphone are working and that your browser has the necessary permissions enabled.

1: Google Chrome Users

  1. Check Camera and Microphone Permissions:
    • Click the lock icon next to the website address in Chrome.
    • In the drop-down menu, make sure Camera and Microphone are set to Allow.
  2. Verify Device Detection:
    • Go to Chrome Settings:
      • Click the three dots in the upper-right corner.
      • Select Settings > Privacy and Security> Site Settings.
    • Under Permissions, click Camera and Microphone.
    • Ensure the correct devices are selected and that sites are allowed to ask for access.

2: Apple Safari Users (macOS)

  1. Check Safari Permissions:
    • Open Safari.
    • Go to Safari > Preferences > Websites.
    • Click on Camera and Microphone in the sidebar.
    • Ensure that the website is set to Allow.
  2. Update System Privacy Settings:
    • On your Mac, click the Apple menu > System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy tab.
    • Select Camera and Microphone from the sidebar.
    • Ensure that Safari is checked to allow access.

3: Mozilla Firefox Users

  1. Check Permissions During Use:
    • When prompted by Firefox, click Allow when a website requests access to your camera and microphone.
  2. Manage Permissions:
    • Click the lock icon next to the website address.
    • Click Permissions.
    • Ensure Use the Camera and Use the Microphone are set to Allow.
  3. Adjust Settings:
    • Open Firefox Menu > Options (or Preferences on macOS).
    • Select Privacy & Security.
    • Under Permissions, click Settings next to Camera and Microphone.
    • Manage your site permissions as needed.

4: Microsoft Edge Users

  1. Check Camera and Microphone Permissions:
    • Click the lock icon next to the website address in Edge.
    • Ensure Camera and Microphone are set to Allow.
  2. Adjust Settings in Edge:
    • Click the three dots in the upper-right corner.
    • Select Settings > Cookies and site permissions.
    • Click on Camera and Microphone.
    • Make sure the correct devices are selected and that Ask before accessing is toggled on.
  3. Update Windows Privacy Settings (if necessary):
    • Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera and Microphone.
    • Ensure that Allow apps to access your camera/microphone is turned On.
    • Scroll down to Allow desktop apps to access your camera/microphone and make sure it's enabled.

Test Your Camera and Microphone on the Website App

  • Navigate to Appointments:
    • Go to the 'Appointments' tab at the top of your homepage.

  • Access the Test Feature:
    • Click on the 'Test Camera/Microphone' button.

 

  • Perform the Test:
    • A pop-up window will appear where you can check if your camera and microphone are working properly.
    • Select your preferred camera and microphone from the dropdown menus then click the 'OK' button.
